That prayer, the Prayer of St. Francis, is about asking God to make me an instrument of His peace. It’s about sowing faith, hope, love, and other virtues in situations where there is hatred, darkness, and despair. It’s also about asking God to help me be virtuous rather than selfish. Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
